No, not that wall. Calm down, Jethro. It’s an NHL tradition by now, the Las Vegas Golden Knights finding a way to acquire the biggest piece on the free agent or trade market, either in the summer or at the deadline. They usually do it by waiting for something to fall off Mark Stone or Jack Eichel and then using the LTIR space. Other teams can cry about it, and usually do, but them’s the rules. Mark Stone and Jack Eichel get hurt. Kind of their thing. – Sam Fels Read More

Editor’s note: Fossil confirmed to us that it is leaving the smartwatch business. As a result, we’ve removed its Gen 6 smartwatch from this list as we evaluate other options. After a long stretch of slim pickings, the last couple of years have been huge for Android smartwatches. Now there are more good options than ever. But this is still a transitional era. When it comes to world-class hotels, Mexico holds considerable bragging rights. The country is saturated with spectacular hotel choices, from luxury all-inclusive resorts to splashy international brands recognized around the world. But one of the best parts about Mexico’s hotel scene is just how many fabulous small-scale, boutique hotels it has to offer. Boutique hotels are typically one-of-a-kind, independently operated hotels with a unique concept and are not affiliated with big-time international names. They are much more nuanced, niche and low-impact. From the Caribbean coast to the Pacific, and within the centuries-old cities in Mexico’s interior, the country is bubbling…

Deliveroo burst into its first profit last year, and the company appears to be shelling out a small fraction of that windfall to its self-employed riders. The delivery app is partnering with Bubble, an on-demand childcare platform that matches parents with babysitters, to give a small portion of its 50,000 U.K.-based riders free childcare. Deliveroo will give 1,000 of its riders 15 hours of childcare to access through Bubble’s app, the pair announced.  But the initiative might appear hollow to riders who are going on strike as the group campaigns to avoid millions of gig workers from being recognized…

The 2023 World Baseball Classic was fantastic. I was watching the NCAA Men’s Basketball tournament at a bar in Los Angeles, when I noticed that most people there had gathered to watch Mexico take on Puerto Rico. The energy in the room was captivating, much of it because Loan Depot Park in Miami was abuzz. I had not seen that type of excitement around a baseball game since the Chicago Cubs’ World Series win in 2016. – Stephen Knox Read More
