Posted: 6/10/2024 | June 10th, 2024 Edinburgh is a historic city full of centuries-old architecture, cozy pubs, and world-class whisky. I’ve been there a bunch and always have a blast. It’s one of my favorite destinations in Europe. I’ve been going since I turned 30 (which was a very, very long time ago). While Edinburgh is gorgeous, accommodation can be fairly expensive. As the second-most visited city in the UK, it can easily break the bank (those pints add up!). An,d while there are a lot of hostels that can help keep your costs low, I’ve learned the hard way…

Chinese electric cars may become pricier in the European Union (EU) after politicians called them a threat to its own industry. It has “provisionally concluded” that Chinese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturers will face tariffs from 4 July “should discussions with Chinese authorities not lead to an effective solution”. The EU’s announcement comes as it continues an investigation into what it claims is a flood of cheap, government-subsidised Chinese cars into the trade bloc. China alleged the tariffs violated international trade rules and described the investigation as “protectionism”. EV makers who co-operated with the investigation, which the EU’s governing European Commission…

After making significant progress in recent years, women are beginning to see their march up the corporate ladder stalled by a still very apparent glass ceiling, new research from LinkedIn shows. The social media platform found the share of women being hired into leadership positions in the U.K. rose from 31.6% in 2016 to 37.8% in 2022.  However, upward momentum has halted in the last two years. In 2024, the share of women hired into leadership positions had fallen to 37.1%. Ireland is the only European country assessed by LinkedIn where this share rose last year. But globally, the…

Former Australian rugby league star Jarryd Hayne has won an appeal against his rape convictions and has been ordered to stand trial for a fourth time in the same case. The 36-year-old was found guilty of sexual assault by a jury last year and sentenced to spend at least three years in jail. He has consistently denied he attacked the woman – who cannot legally be named – in her bedroom, arguing the pair had consensual sex. Mr Hayne was one of the most high-profile athletes in Australia’s National Rugby League (NRL) and briefly played American football in the NFL.…

Summer travel is kicking off in full force, and that can mean only one thing (aside from school ending, barbecues and packed flights to Europe): It’s time to name TPG’s Best Airline for 2024. We don’t go out to eat often, but when we do, I love Japanese food. It’s relatively easy to find gluten-free dishes, and the salads and stir fry are wonderful There’s even a local restaurant that cooks in coconut oil! One of my favorite things at our local Japanese restaurant is their ginger salad dressing (which probably has questionable ingredients, but I’ve avoided asking). Either way, my bank account and my health would both have problems if I headed to the restaurant every time I had a craving for their food. So I’ve been experimenting with an at-home version with nourishing ingredients…
