Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex Hands-on - G Pro delivers ergonomics

Logitech has announced the G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex, a new version of its Superlight 2 gaming mouse that sports a new curved shape and aims to appeal to gamers who aren’t as keen on the flat, straight, symmetrical design of the previous G Pro iteration. I had the chance to try this mouse out for myself. Logitech G Pro X Superlight 2 Dex Let’s see if this will be the next revolution in gaming mice.

The Superlight 2 currently features in our best gaming mice guide as the best wireless ultralight gaming mouse, thanks to its comfortable symmetrical shape, extremely light weight, and great overall performance. So, can this new ergonomic version of Logitech’s mouse perform just as well? Let’s take a look.

The story of Logitech’s G Pro gaming mouse lineup is a unique one: the G Pro Wireless was a groundbreaking gaming mouse launched in 2018, combining innovative wireless technology with a comfortable ambidextrous design. The first Superlight version of that mouse was then launched, but it removed the right-side button, thus removing the true ambidextrous part of the design. It was a disappointing move, but it’s finally been rectified by the just-announced G Pro 2 Lightspeed. Incidentally, the naming of Logitech’s G Pro lineup is so terrible that a Google search for the latter mice only brings up results for the company’s G Pro headsets.

Last year saw the Superlight 2, and now the Superlight 2 Dex, the first G Pro Logitech mouse with an ergonomic right-handed design, making it a direct competitor to the likes of the Razer Deathadder, while the Superlight, apart from the Dex, continues to rival the Razer Viper.

A quick look at the specs of this mouse shows it boasts some even more impressive numbers than what we’re used to seeing in modern gaming mice. The Hero 2 sensor boasts up to 44,000 DPI levels and can track at speeds of up to 888 inches per second with a maximum acceleration of 88G. The mouse can also communicate with your PC at a polling rate of up to 8KHz, so Logitech has pulled out all the stops to ensure this mouse hits all the numbers.

In our playtesting, these numbers proved to be on par with other top gaming mice from the past few years. The constant advancements in sensor technology are interesting and pleasing, but aside from a slight improvement in smoothness due to increased polling rates, the mouse has been essentially perfect for gaming for years now.

Logitech G Pro X Super Light 2 Dex 02 and symmetrical

In terms of comfort, the new shape (pictured above, left) didn’t immediately win me over as a performance gaming tool. I’m used to using smaller, lighter, symmetrical mice like the Endgame Gear OP1 8K, Superlight 2, and Xtrfy MZ1 Wireless for gaming. I then usually turn to the G502 X for “comfortable” desktop work, but in the case of the Dex, switching to a bulkier, ergonomic shape actually compromised comfort. However, if you’re used to mice like the Razer Deathadder, the Dex is clearly a welcome alternative.

That said, the shape is relatively understated – it’s slightly raised on the left side and slightly wider at the back – and the front of the mouse feels largely similar to the existing G Pro lineup, which is no bad thing.

This similarity, and the fact that this mouse doesn’t immediately feel like a revolutionary new level of comfort or freedom of movement, is reflected in the fact that the Superlight 2 Dex weighs 60g, the same as the symmetrical Superlight 2. By modern standards, that’s certainly pretty light for a wireless option, but it’s not record-breaking: the Razer Viper V3 Pro is 5g lighter, and some other mice are even lighter.

Overall, the Dex is a great build quality. It’s a slightly more ergonomic version of the Superlight 2, and that’s it. If you prefer a mouse with a bit more of a tilt and palm support, the Dex might be more appealing than the symmetrical Superlight 2. Both are great mice in terms of performance, but they’re still both very expensive options.
