The Chicago White Sox hit two home runs for the third time this season and had four RBIs to beat the Angels on Monday night, earning their first three-game winning streak in nearly three months.

It marked just the fourth time the White Sox have won three or more straight games and the first time since beating Atlanta and Colorado from June 27-29. Chicago won two of three straight games over the weekend against Oakland, ending a 20-game losing streak.

Chicago will try to tie its season-high four-game winning streak on Tuesday night, which it recorded against Tampa Bay and Cleveland from May 8-11.

The White Sox are 36-115 with 11 games remaining and looking to avoid the record of 120 losses since 1900, set by the newly established New York Mets in 1962. Chicago is 16-57 on the road, a long way from the record of 65 losses since 1900, set by the Boston Braves in 1935.

The White Sox led 3-0 in the first inning in a matchup between the teams with the worst records in the American League. Benintendi hit a two-run homer to right field off starter Reid Detmers (4-7). Two pitches later, Andrew Vaughn smashed a fastball over the left-center field wall.

It was the fifth time the White Sox have hit consecutive home runs, but the first since June 13 at Seattle.

Benintendi’s grounder in the second inning scored Zach DeLoach to make it 5-0, and the left fielder hit a solo homer to right-center field in the seventh inning for his team-leading 19th homer.

White Sox pitcher Lenin Sosa also hit a home run as leadoff hitter in the top of the third inning, extending his team’s lead to 7-1.

Rookie Jonathan Cannon (4-10) pitched 6⅔ innings to earn his second win in three starts in September. The right-hander struck out seven batters, tying his season high, while allowing four runs and three hits.

The Angels lost their sixth straight game despite Eric Wagaman’s first major league home run and Charles Leblanc’s solo home run.

The Angels suffered their 90th loss in their 150th game, the fastest in franchise history.

The Angels are coming off a 10th straight losing season and are trying to avoid the franchise’s most losing streak in manager Ron Washington’s first season — the most in franchise history was 95 straight losses, set in 1968 and 1980.

Injury Update

White Sox: Third baseman Yoan Moncada returned from the 60-day disabled list after being on the list since April 10 with a left adductor injury.

Angels: Center fielder Mike Trout (left knee) said he will consider a position change for next season. … Second baseman Michael Stefanik (right calf tightness), second baseman Brandon Drury (left hamstring tightness) and outfielder Mickey Moniak (lefty) were not in the lineup.

Next

White Sox right-hander Davis Martin (0-4, 4.14 ERA) will make his ninth start and 10th appearance of the season, while Angels right-hander Griffin Canning (5-13, 5.35 ERA) will be looking to bounce back after giving up 10 runs (9 earned) in 5 2/3 innings against Minnesota on Sept. 10.
